2027 Ford F-150 vs. Chevy Silverado 1500: Which Truck Works Harder in Las Cruces?
Across New Mexico, the Ford F-150 is the top-selling full-size truck. CarEdge's September 2026 rankings put the F-150 third among all new vehicles sold in the state over the prior 45 days (238 sold), ahead of the Ram 1500 (205) and the Chevy Silverado 1500 (181). In Las Cruces itself, the picture is closer: CarEdge's August 2026 data shows the Silverado selling more than the F-150 (23 to 9), while F-150 sales were up 80%. Nationally, Ford says the F-Series has been America's best-selling truck for 49 years in a row.
Both trucks are updated for 2027. Ford has refreshed the F-150 with a new base engine, a bigger V8 lineup and hands-free towing, and Chevrolet has redesigned the Silverado 1500. This page looks at where the F-150 pulls ahead for work in the Mesilla Valley and weekends in the Organ Mountains. We don't list prices here. See our inventory or call us for current pricing.
What are New Mexico truck shoppers buying?
Start with the numbers. In CarEdge's September 2026 New Mexico rankings, the F-150 sold 238 new trucks in 45 days, the Ram 1500 sold 205 and the Silverado 1500 sold 181. In Las Cruces, the Toyota Tacoma led all new vehicles in August, the Silverado 1500 was fourth with 23 sold, and the F-150 had 9, up 80% from the period before.
Then look at who lives here. Las Cruces has about 113,000 residents, a median age near 33 and a median household income of about $55,000. New Mexico State University's Las Cruces campus enrolled 15,408 students in fall 2024. Many shoppers here are first-time buyers, young families and people who work in the Mesilla Valley, so a truck has to earn its keep.
That is where the F-150 makes its case. Ford says the F-Series sold 828,832 trucks in 2025, its 49th straight year as America's best-selling truck, and the F-150 Hybrid is America's best-selling full-size hybrid pickup.
Local sales figures are third-party estimates and change often. Las Cruces is a small sample.
